IOIS Sections

    To better deal with the different areas of interest of the Society, specific Sections have been created under the leadership of IOIS members who will coordinate Clinical Studies and Sessions during the IOIS International Symposium.

    These Sections are open to all members. Any member interested in participating in any Section should approach the Coordinator of the Section of their interest, or the IOIS Secretariat.

    Bi-annual Edition of the "Guidelines"

    One of the most important activities of the society is the preparation of the Guidelines Books, another didactical and material dealing with diagnosis and treatment of ocular inflammatory diseases.

    The following guidelines have been prepared and now are available to the IOIS members:

    · Conjunctivitis (Published in 1996)
    · Posterior Segment Intraocluar Inflammation (Published in 1998)
    · Anterior Segment Intraocular Inflammation (Published in 2000)
    · Clinical cases of Uveitis (CD-Rom published in 2002)
    · Ocular Surface Inflammation Guidelines (Published in 2003)
    · Blepharitis and Conjunctivitis: Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment (to be published in June 2006).

    To receive new editions of the Guidelines, International members have to be in good standing for two consecutive years.

    The International Symposium
    on Ocular Immunology and Inflammation

    Every two years, the IOIS symposium is convened in various host Countries. This meeting serves as a Forum for International cooperation, the exchange of ideas, as well as the ground for initiation of new scientific projects.

    Basic Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Immunology, Pharmacology and Surgery of Ocular Inframmatory Diseases are all debated during the Synopsium.

    The IOIS Continuous Medical Education Program

    The IOIS offers free access to a Continuous Medical Education Program trough its Web Page. In this program, selected lectures are prepared by IOIS members. Access to this program is provided by a special personal password. This program is running since Jannuary 2004.

    Other IOIS International Activities

    The IOIS co-sponsors Meetings with other distinguished International and National Societies. Among the many activities that have been co-sponsored by the IOIS are the following:

    Reduced Rate for Journal Subscription

    The IOIS has a preferential agreement offering special subscription rates to our members. Both the Ocular Immunology and Inflammation Journal and the Ophthalmologic Research Journal (www.karger.com/ore) are offered through this policy to all our members in goods standing.
